We are seeking an experienced Account Manager to own and grow strategic client relationships, ensuring long-term success for both the client and Six Feet Up. This role blends consultative relationship management, revenue expansion, and delivery alignment in a software consultancy environment.
Role Overview
The Account Manager is responsible for developing deep client partnerships, expanding account value, and ensuring seamless collaboration between client stakeholders and internal delivery teams. This role serves as the main point of contact for the client while helping translate business needs into solutions and long-term opportunities.
Core Responsibilities (4 MUSTS)
- Own a long-term strategy for each client and navigate their goals, dynamics, and politics.
- Expand client investments with Six Feet Up, including pitching and negotiating scopes, budgets, and staffing, and securing Clutch reviews as proof of success.
- Act as the main point of contact, building trusted, multi-level relationships and proactively managing risks and concerns.
- Set up the Six Feet Up team for success by communicating client business needs, aligning with SDLs and TLs, and leading key moments like kickoffs.
Performance Expectations
Success in this role requires consistent value creation, disciplined execution, and proactive communication. High-performing account managers are expected to manage critical conversations, maintain forecasting and CRM rigor, and address client issues before they become surprises.
The following are common failure points that must be actively avoided:
- Failing to provide value to clients
- Failing to operate with discipline (CRM hygiene, forecasting accuracy, account planning rigor)
- Failing to attend and manage critical client conversations
- Getting surprise negative feedback from a client
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years in account management, client success, or consultative sales within a software development, technology consulting, or professional services environment.
- Strong working knowledge of modern software development and architecture, including application development, AI/ML solutions, big data platforms, and cloud infrastructure.
- Ability to engage credibly with technical and executive stakeholders, translating business goals into technical initiatives and vice versa.
- Demonstrated ability to grow accounts through strategic relationship building, not transactional selling.
- Experience navigating complex client organizations, including executive stakeholders, procurement, and technical teams.
- Strong commercial acumen, including experience scoping work, building proposals, and negotiating budgets and contracts.
