Please join us, a bunch of programmers, nerds, geeks, hackers, to celebrate the season by consuming the traditional holiday meal of beer and pizza, listening to The Handicapper Generals fill the hall with blues-rock, and, if you're so inclined, compete in the traditional holiday programming contest against your fellow programmers. How can you not be excited about an event absolutely dripping reverence for tradition?
The Plan
6:30PM The Handicapper Generals take the stage! Be sure to arrive early to hear the traditional holiday blues-rock covers of songs by The Black Keys, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and more. At this point, the beer will be flowing, and the pizza will be ... sitting there, waiting for you to eat it.
7:30PM Beginning of the programming contest (optional -- you may continue to drink, eat, and be merry, if you wish). The contest will consist of a set of problems requiring varying skill levels. An hour and a half will be given for each team of two to finish the problems. Winners will be chosen based on number of problems solved, with ties broken by the time it took to finish them. We will also be reading and applauding your creativity in choosing a team name.
9:00PM Programming contest winners announced!
10:00PM You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here (unless you're going to help us clean up)! (Seriously, though, please choose a safe method for getting home.)
