Six Feet Up's Director of Engineering Calvin Hendryx-Parker was invited to present a talk at the annual "Web Content 2007 symposium" that was held in Chicago, IL on June 18th and 19th. Hendryx-Parker's presentation, entitled "Enabling the Semantic Web with RDF" went over a description of semantic web concepts, introduced RDF (Resource Description Framework), described RDF Schemas and Web Ontology Language (OWL) and provided various examples of live applications. The presentation was very well received. Yahoo's newly appointed head of Brickhouse, Salim Ismail, even asked Hendryx-Parker to explain RDF once more during his own presentation. About RDF and the Semantic Web: RDF is a way to describe resources. RDF allows for a richer environment for describing complex applications and relationships. It serves as a basis for using the Semantic Web in content management systems and provides enhanced querying capabilities. The Semantic Web facilitates the creation of a universal medium for the exchange of data. See Presentation Slides »
