We are excited to announce our CTO Calvin Hendryx-Parker is an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Community Hero!
The AWS Hero program recognizes a vibrant, worldwide group of AWS experts whose enthusiasm for knowledge-sharing has a real impact within the community. Heroes go above and beyond to share knowledge via social media, blog posts, open source projects, events, and user groups.
Calvin Hendryx-Parker is the co-founder of Six Feet Up, a women-owned company specializing in Python and AWS consulting.
Calvin has been using AWS technologies since early 2013. He and his team have helped numerous high profile organizations embrace and optimize their usage of AWS services. One of their successes is contributing to Capital One’s Cloud Custodian open source project, which aimed at helping the financial giant keep its workloads in compliance. Another successful project consisted of moving servers from the closet to the cloud for the University of Notre Dame.
In 2017, Calvin founded the Indiana AWS user group (“IndyAWS”), now the fastest growing tech community in the Midwest with 750+ members. To-date, Calvin has held 30+ IndyAWS monthly meetups and organized the first annual Indy Cloud Conf event focused on cloud computing and cross cloud deployments.
Calvin loves engaging in speaking opportunities across the AWS Community. He is encouraging to those he mentors, strives to provide best practices, and is willing to help members of the community find answers and resources to further their passion for AWS. The Indy AWS community would not be what it is without Calvin’s future-focused vision of tech and drive to grow and learn in a changing ecosystem.
He is an avid AWS community spokesperson. In 2019, Calvin was asked to speak as the keynote presenter for the 2nd Annual AWS Community Day Midwest in Chicago.
