Austin Ottinger, Director of Software Engineering at Anu, shared how he built a serverless GenAI newsletter processor that pulls in multiple newsletters, strips away the junk, and delivers one clean, searchable feed. The pipeline uses AWS services, Python libraries, and large language models to keep only what matters.

Highlights:

• Collect newsletters with AWS Lambda, SQS, SES, and S3
• Strip HTML/CSS and keep only the relevant text
• Use AI models with Pydantic for structured, reliable output
• Store in Postgres and add vector embeddings for search
• Cluster similar articles to remove duplicates

Jeff Licquia, Senior Python Web Developer at Six Feet Up, introduced Cloud Custodian, an open-source tool for policy-driven cloud governance. With simple YAML rules, you can detect misconfigurations, enforce best practices, and even shut down unnecessary resources — all without vendor lock-in.
