The Django Software Foundation (DSF) is hiring its first Executive Director. That’s a big win for businesses relying on Django to build applications that perform, scale, and evolve over time.
Six Feet Up has pledged $10,000 toward the new role. Five other Django agencies joined in, pledging a combined $47,500 to help fund its first year.
"Tech leaders stake their roadmaps on the long-term viability of their technology stack," said Gabrielle Hendryx-Parker, CEO of Six Feet Up. "A full-time Executive Director de-risks the framework's future, protecting the robust and lasting systems we build for our clients and ensuring Django remains a bankable, innovative choice."
The DSF has historically relied on its volunteer board to manage fundraising, grants, and community programs, all on top of their day jobs. A dedicated Executive Director will help the foundation expand its reach, secure funding, and manage operations as the Django community grows.
Joining Six Feet Up are Caktus Group, Lincoln Loop, Cuttlesoft, OddBird, and Two Rock. Each agency builds client applications with Django, and that shared reliance brought them together.
For Six Feet Up, the pledge builds on more than two decades of involvement in the Django community, including ongoing sponsorship of DjangoCon US and contributions to the broader Python ecosystem.
The pledge is a start. The DSF is raising its annual fundraising goal from $300,000 to $500,000 to sustain the role and keep its other programs running. If your company builds on Django, read the DSF’s announcement to see how to contribute.
