Lars Noldan, one of Six Feet Up's senior systems administrators, will be presenting a case study at BSDCan on May 14, 2011. The talk will focus on a Six Feet Up case study featuring a Fortune 500 Company's request for a website with no single points of failure, an SLA that requires 99.95% up-time, and disaster recovery capabilities. The presentation will feature the process required for the implementation of the hosting environment with fail-over to redundant Internet connections, private cloud storage of replicated data and full disaster recovery services using FBSD.
Lars has over 14 years of technical experience, including the last four years as a systems administrator for Six Feet Up. The Six Feet Up systems administrators manage approximately 80 servers and another 150 virtual private servers running FreeBSD. Lars has extensive experience with web hosting technologies focusing primarily on complex deployments in higher education and Fortune 500 companies.
Lars is a natural teacher and shares his experience freely with co-workers providing in-house trainings in his areas of expertise. When asked why he wanted to present this case study at BSDCan Lars said "I like being able to share the deployment hurdles, flaws and successes we encounter while using FreeBSD in a production environment. Attending and presenting at this conference allows me to provide feedback directly to the people responsible for the development of the technologies we use."
Six Feet Up encourages BSDCan attendees to come and share experiences on sophisticated web deployments with Lars Noldan.
