Join IndyPy either in person or remotely for our quarterly hybrid event!
7 - 7:15pm: Announcements and Introductions
7:15 - 7:45pm: “Hands-on with the uv package manager” by David Birks, E-gineering consultant
uv is a new package manager for Python that focuses on speed and streamlining the development workflow. In this talk, we'll cover things such as: the main features and a brief history of uv, what the migration path looks like from other package managers like pip or poetry, and how useful scripts with inline dependencies can be.
7:45 - 8:15pm: “Battle of the Bots: Which AI Assistant Delivers?” by Calvin Hendryx-Parker, Six Feet Up CTO
Skip the setup, get straight to coding — then see which tool does it best. In this live demo, Calvin Hendryx-Parker will use Scaf™ to spin up a fully configured Django project and run the same AI prompts across the top coding assistants: Aider, Goose, Cursor, Claude Code, and the newcomer, Augment. By comparing how each tool writes models, refactors code, and handles real-time development tasks, attendees will gain a practical understanding of their strengths and limitations. Whether you’re evaluating tools for your team or just curious about what’s next in AI-powered coding, this session delivers valuable insights and actionable takeaways.
8:15 - 8:30pm: Door Prizes
8:30 - 9pm: Networking & General Discussion
Guests are more than welcome to attend, but please have each person RSVP on their own Meetup account.
