Agenda:

  • 7 - 7:15 p.m.: Announcements and introductions
  • 7:15 - 8:30 p.m.: "Python in Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC): Dozers, Dump Trucks, and Dictionaries" by Scott Lecher, a geospatial developer and system lead
Python isn't the best language for anything, but it is the second-best language for everything! The ongoing exponential growth of python is fueled in large part by its adoption and usage across a wide range of industries like architecture, engineering, and construction. This presentation dives into multiple case studies that show how python is being applied to benefit some of the world's oldest professions, with use cases that range from cloud computing and generic data ETL pipelines to automation, computer vision, and machine learning.
  • 8:30 - 8:45 p.m.: Door Prizes
  • 8:45 - 9:00 p.m.: Networking & General Discussion

About Scott Lecher:
Scott started as a transportation engineer and is now a senior geospatial systems developer who develops and delivers technology solutions for clients. Some typical solutions include reality modeling via photogrammetry and LiDAR point clouds, as well as VR/AR solutions that can include rapid visualization for public outreach and augmented reality in the field. He often swaps his engineering hard hat for a data scientist role that can run the gamut from data processing and engineering through training and deployment of models for machine learning.

Organized by Six Feet Up, IndyPy wouldn’t be possible without our awesome sponsors including JetBrains, JFrog and Reify Health. If you are interested in sponsoring IndyPy, please send an email to events@sixfeetup.com.

Guests are more than welcome to attend, but please have each person RSVP on their own Meetup account.
