The 2006 E-MELD (Electronic Metastructure for Endangered Languages Data) workshop on digital language documentation marks the culmination of the 5-year E-MELD project and aims at reviewing digital standards ratified by the community in prior workshops on text, lexicons, databases, and annotation. Calvin Hendryx-Parker, Director of Engineering at Six Feet Up, has been asked to present a project led jointly with Jeff Good from the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. His presentation "Modeling contested categorization in linguistic databases" will include a case study on using RDF to solve the problem of indexing multiple lingual structures. The "2006 E-MELD Workshop":http://emeld.org/workshop/2006/ will take place at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan on June 20-22.
