INDIANAPOLIS, Apr. 8, 2013 - Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, a prominent architecture firm recognized for a wide range of work including high profile stores for Apple, has partnered with Six Feet Up to deploy, customize and host a new intranet. The new system is designed to foster collaboration between BCJ employees distributed over 5 offices.

Powered by the free and open source knowledge management system (KMS) KARL, BCJ's new web-based intranet boasts an impressive list of collaboration tools, including a blog, wiki, file sharing, shared calendar, staff directory, live search, and syndication mechanism. "We have been getting great feedback and enthusiasm," stated David Andreini, a senior associate with BCJ, shortly after the launch. "our new intranet is fostering a greater sense of a firm-wide community across the five offices, and is making it easier to share our knowledge and resources."

Unlike other popular collaboration tools, the new BCJ intranet allows its members to create an unlimited number of communities, with a variety of permissions, at no additional cost. Communities can also be nested to give specific project groups the focus, autonomy and dedicated content management tools they need to be efficient.

BCJ had originally looked at Microsoft SharePoint, LifeRay, Alfresco Share, Jive, and the open source CMS Plone before deciding to move full force with KARL, a new open source collaborative intranet product. Six Feet Up and BCJ then worked closely together to customize KARL so as to match the firm's unique team organization and business processes.
