The Plone Foundation's booth at OSCON in Portland, OR on July 26th - July 28th will be manned by Foundation President Calvin Hendryx-Parker and Carol Ganz Director of Business Development at Six Feet Up. OSCON is an event dedicated to all things open source. The event encourages attendees to look at new and upcoming technologies and increase their connection to the FOSS community.
Calvin and Carol will be answering questions and presenting demos at booth #226, next to the Wii Lounge.
The planned demonstrations include the following sites and features:
* University of Virginia Health System implemented a faceted navigation that provides visitors with several fast and intuitive search and browsing mechanisms to find medical information and doctors.
* Indiana Historical Society uses a third party integration to help guests register for an event at their facility.
* Discover Magazine asked Six Feet Up to implemented a Plone + wordpress-mu integration, which resulted in a seamless look and feel for the Discover brand.
* RES Software had a business requirement to have an independent website for one of their top products/brands. This subsite needed a personalized look and feel, but needs to be updated and managed like it's part of the main site. Six Feet Up leveraged the products Lineage and LinguaPlone to allow the client to fulfill these business needs with a simple to use package and without a new stand-alone site being developed.
* Abouthandeczema.com is a site that features multiple slideshow implementations, content-managed facts and questions, an interactive quiz, and multi-language support.
These interactive demos will allow us to show how the Plone Content Management System can solve many business requirements. We will also discuss what comes with Plone out of the box and how a easily you can extend and customize the product.
Please come by the Plone Foundation booth to talk about the benefits of using Plone for your next development project. In addition to performing demonstrations of Plone and answering questions, Calvin Hendryx-Parker will be happy to get together and talk with interested companies and developers about how they can become involved in the Plone community. Please contact him prior to the event to arrange for private conversations.
