Six Feet Up was recently asked to investigate and address an issue found with John Burroughs School's website. The school's host server was making outside connections to bot networks, causing a degradation in network performance. Because the server was contacting several hosts with a large amount of traffic, it ultimately started affecting John Burroughs School's site performance and bandwidth usage.
Six Feet Up took action immediately: system administrators cleaned out malicious content inside the site's files and re-deployed the site on a whole new virtual machine.
During the move, the team also confirmed that the version of John Burroughs School's Wordpress site, and its plugins, were in fact vulnerable and in need of an upgrade. Six Feet Up proceeded with upgrading Wordpress, thus effectively protecting the school from possible future hacks.
