Six Feet Up Plans Long-Term Growth

May 25, 2018

Six Feet Up, a Python web application and cloud management consulting company, announced plans today to expand its operations in Hamilton County, creating up to 19 new, high-wage jobs by 2023.

In addition to out-of-state employees and contractors, Six Feet Up currently has 10 full time employees in Indiana. The company plans to begin hiring this year for Python developers, project managers, business development and management associates. New positions are expected to offer salaries above the state and county average wage.

“Recruiting, hiring and training local talent in the area is a priority for us,” said Gabrielle Hendryx-Parker, chief executive officer at Six Feet Up. “We strive to offer our staff a motivating and inspiring space where to work and play. This priority is reinforced by the fact that many of our employees reside in the northern portion of Marion County and by our close partnerships with Ivy Tech Community College, Purdue University and Notre Dame University. We look forward to continuing to grow the tech presence in central Indiana.”

Founded in 1999, the company specializes in helping tech teams regain momentum. Through its collaborative client engagements, Six Feet Up engineers help large corporations and universities develop custom Python apps using Django, Pyramid and Plone. The team also helps deploy systems to a variety of private and public clouds, including AWS, Azure and Cloudflare.

The IEDC offered Six Feet Up up to $228,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company's job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. This project was supported by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

"This project gives Six Feet Up the opportunity to invest in highly skilled talent and jobs quicker than we would be able to achieve otherwise. Together, the state of Indiana, IEDC and city of Fishers have created an environment where small tech businesses can grow and prosper, allowing for quality of life improvements and business diversification in the region," said Calvin Hendryx-Parker, chief technology officer at Six Feet Up.
