Six Feet Up has recently completed the migration of its KARL clients to version 3.82. KARL is an open-source product that powers collaborative intranets for organizations like Open Society Foundations, Oxfam, Eurasia and United Nations. It is positioned as a lighter-weight and more nimble alternative to Microsoft SharePoint.
This new version of KARL comes with a variety of new features, enhancements and bug fixes:
New features:
- Implemented new feature to allow community moderators to delete files and wiki pages permanently.
- Implemented new feature to add sorting facets to the “Advanced Search” view.
Enhancements:
- Changed the default calendar view from day to month.
- Sped up search results involving a large time span (such as “past year”) using a new kind of index with multiple levels of granularity. Also added an evolve script to perform the conversion.
- Resolved the issue of distorted pictures displayed on people’s pages.
- Added main navigation link to the Office’s Staff Calendar.
- Added in the localization of dates to Karl
- Improved the usability of the Trash
Bug fixes:
- Fixed bug related to folder listing sorting.
- Fix problem with non-ascii characters in exception error messages in both the error page view and the postoffice quarantine view.
- Fixed tag error on “Manage Communities” page.
- Fixed bug in “Show file” view where Unicode filenames could cause an error.
- Fixed issue where some links to the wiki trash were incorrect.
- Fixed issue where reverting to an older version of a file didn’t update the search results: KARL users could receive results pointing to a version that is no longer available or not find an item that was recently reverted.
- Fixed cross browser compatibility bug that caused the ‘Multi Upload’ button to disappear.
- Fixed an issue related to the display of proper page titles on member management pages.
- Fixed search results view to show the last person who modified a piece of content, not creator.
- Fixed bug that caused the current layer selection on the calendar to revert to “All Layers” when clicking “More Events”.
- Fixed a series of IE bugs.
